People Helping Parents School Supply Drive

At Columbia Credit Union, we believe financial well-being is deeply connected to everyday life. Sometimes support looks like a loan, a savings account, or financial guidance. Other times, it looks like a backpack, a pack of pencils, a box of tissues, or one less thing for a parent to worry about.

That is why Columbia Credit Union is hosting the People Helping Parents School Supply Drive from July 13 through July 31 to help local families prepare for the upcoming school year.

This effort is rooted in the credit union philosophy of People Helping People. For us, that means showing up for our neighbors in practical, meaningful ways. This back-to-school season, it means people helping parents, students, and families start the year with a little more confidence and support.

Back-to-school costs can add up quickly, especially for young parents and families who are working hard to build a strong foundation. School supplies may seem small on their own, but together they can make a real difference for a child walking into the classroom prepared and for a parent trying to stretch the family budget.

Through the People Helping Parents School Supply Drive, we hope to:

Embrace local families by recognizing the real pressures they are carrying during a busy and expensive season.

Empower students by helping provide the tools they need to feel prepared, organized, and ready to learn.

Enhance our community by working together with neighbors, members, and local partners to support families close to home.

Donations collected during the drive will be distributed in a local neighborhood through Perry’s Neighborhood Fill Up Station in early August. (Keep an eye out for more details on that!)

If you are looking for ideas on what to donate, helpful items include:

  • Backpacks
  • Pencils
  • Pens
  • Folders
  • Binders
  • Loose-leaf paper
  • Highlighters
  • Colored pencils or markers
  • Pencil pouches or cases
  • Tissues
  • Disinfecting wipes
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Ziploc bags

Every donation helps. A pack of pencils, a folder, or a box of tissues may feel simple, but these are the supplies students use every day. When we come together, those small contributions become real support for local families.
