People Helping Parents: School Supply Distribution Day
People Helping Parents: School Supply Distribution Day
Columbia Credit Union and Perry’s Full Service invite local families to the People Helping Parents School Supply Distribution Day on Wednesday, August 5, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Thanks to the generosity of our members, customers, staff, and community, over 2000 new school supplies were collected to help local students begin the school year feeling prepared and confident. Families can stop by to pick up core packs for elementary, middle, and other classroom essentials while supplies last.

Why We Created People Helping Parents
Back-to-school season brings excitement, but it can also place additional pressure on a family’s budget. School supply lists add up quickly, especially alongside the other everyday expenses parents and caregivers are already managing.
This drive will not solve everything, but we hope it makes back-to-school a little easier. People Helping Parents was created to offer practical support while reminding local families that their community sees them and cares about what they are carrying.
Why We Partnered With Perry’s
Columbia Credit Union intentionally chose Perry’s Full Service because of its deep roots in Columbia, longstanding reputation for putting people first, and commitment to serving our community with integrity.
For Perry’s, the partnership builds on relationships developed through three generations of serving Columbia families.
“Partnering with local businesses such as Columbia Credit Union allows us to directly impact the people in our immediate community,” said Whitney Perry, one of the owners of Perry’s Full Service. “That includes the children attending school just down the street, the parents and grandparents who have chosen to do business with us for years or even generations, and new families who want to experience why Columbia still has a small-town feel in a rapidly growing city.”
Perry’s is more than a place to fill up a vehicle. It is a neighborhood business whose relationships allow it to support local families in ways that extend beyond the services of an ordinary gas station. That community-first approach made Perry’s a natural partner for Columbia Credit Union.
Together, we hope this effort encourages others to find their own ways to help. Whether it is donating supplies, volunteering time, supporting a local business, or simply helping a neighbor, meaningful change often begins with one small act of kindness.
This is People Helping People in action: local organizations and neighbors working together to make a meaningful difference, one family at a time.
